Geological Audit Services, Inc.
vV= 1803 W. March Lane, Suite A•Stockton, CA 95207•(209) 956-0264• FAX(209)956-0700
Ow 23 March 1992
GeoAudit CV 43C5-1. 3
Mr. Steve Schneider, REHS
Environmental Health Division
San Joaquin County
445 N. San Joaquin St.
Stockton, CA 95201
Subject: Disposal of Contaminated Soil at Mid-Cal Leasing
1634 E. Channel St.
Stockton, CA 95205
Dear Mr. Schneider:
in response to your further inquiry, James Hoblitzell of Falcon
Energy Associates and I have discussed the disposal of contaminated
sail removed during the remediation activities at the referenced
property last year. We believe we have resolved the discrepency of
approximately 270 cubic yards in the amount of soil removed and
transported, as reported. in Geological Audit's Final Report
submitted 2 January 1992.
In my final report, I enclosed a copy of the disposal contract
between Forward Landfill and Mr. Ed Gotelli. This contract was
written on 4 September 1991, before transport of the soil, and was
based on an estimated volume of 450 cubic yards of soil.
Also enclosed with my report was a copy of the invoice submitted to
Falcon Energy by Bob Evans Trucking for the amount of soil that was
actually delivered to Forward. A total of six truckloads, or
approximately 150 cubic yards, was taken to Forward. This amount is
within 30 cubic yards of my estimate of 180 yards, as reported in
the Final Report. That estimate was based on the dimensions of the
main part of the excavation (approximately 15 ft x 12 ft x 21 ft =
140 cubic yards) plus the smaller addition in the northwest corner,
which I estimated to be 5 ft x 10 ft x 22 ft = 40 cubic yards.
It is likely that the estimate of the soil removed in the northwest
corner is somewhat excessive; dimensions of 3 ft x 8 ft x 22 ft =
20 cubic yards are probably more accurate. This would bring the
total to 160 yards, which is close to Evans Trucking's estimate for
the amount of transported soil. Hence, it is our conclusion that
150-160 cubic yards of soil were removed and transported to Forward
Landfill.
I hope this clears up the confusion regarding this matter and the
it will be possible to close this site expeditiously.
Environmental Services• Hydrogeology•Geotechnical Services
