In <br /> particular, sidewall and bottom samples contain a fairly <br /> uniform concentration of lead that varies only slightly <br /> between 5.5 and 8.4 ppm. The exception is MCSW-1, which also <br /> contained high concentrations of diesel and motor oil. After <br /> reexcavation, concentrations of diesel and oil dropped to ND, <br /> but total lead dropped only slightly to 7. 1 ppm, still within <br /> the range for lead in other sidewall samples and considerably <br /> lower than the lead concentrations in the soil stockpiles. <br /> Because lead is less mobile in soil, than either diesel or <br /> motor oil, it is highly unlikely that this lead has leaked <br /> from the waste oil tank and migrated laterally farther than <br /> the diesel and motor oil. Rather, it probably occurs naturally <br /> in the local soil. <br /> 5. The excavated soil is non-hazardous according to DHS <br /> guidelines. <br /> RECOPl ONDA`1'IONS <br /> We recommend that you tranmit a copy of this report to San Joaquin <br /> County Environmental Health Division. Based on the results of <br /> sampling and laboratory analysis, we believe that the contamination <br /> has been successfully removed and that EHD will grant approval to <br /> M� transport the stockpiled soil to an approved disposal facility. <br /> This soil should be hauled by a properly: licensed firm under non- <br /> hazardous manifest. <br /> We also recommend that you apply for permission to fill the <br /> excavation with clean fill material and resurface the garage floor. <br /> We recommend that you contact San Joaquin EHD and request <br /> �n authorization for site closure. <br /> We appreciate the opportunity to prepare this report.
