The facility
consists of a large empty garage and adjoining storage rooms and
exterior fenced storage areas.
The site is underlain by unconsolidated Quaternary alluvial
sediment. Groundwater is estimated at 60 ft below surface grade
(San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District,
Map showing lines of equal depth to water wells, Fall,- 1989) .
PREVIOUS w0F;
An under,rotind waste oil tan i
de$the garage was remoyed_b
Thorpe of 89 . camucd om beto
;
dank-mat - a tsl" _ =r _grade v Yi
lhs _ P'pr, ama y -5-6 !t'ie..ew  andatnal, zedb
,tennis Environmental for t0c as oj?lg, .. -h,7r_d ambo
n &X " _ ifrTa`i i Zee re ease ot^hydxocasbonm_was a sc e ,
The tank cavity is approximately 6 ft long x 4 ft wide x 4 ft
deep. Approximately 3 .5 cu. yds. of contaminated soil were removed
during the excavation. Following excavation, this soil was
reemplaced in the tank cavity,
-PROPOSED EXCAVATION AND SAMPLING
We propose to mLtigate the contamination at the site through
excavation and subsequent treatment on-site by means of
biodegradation. The remediation will be undertaxen in the following
steps:
]1) Prapare a site health and safety plan in accordance with
occupational Safety and Health Guidance Manual for hazardous
Waste Site, Activities - Prepared by NacLonal Institute for
occupational Safety and Health, Occupatxoial Saf sty and Health
Administration, U.S. coast Guard and US Environmental
Protection Agency, October 1985.
2) Notify the San Joaquin County - Environmental Health D1viS3.on
(SJEND) 48 hours prior to work initiation.
t 3) Overexcavate the tank cavity to the following approximate
dimensions: 10 ft long x 8 ft gide x 9 ft deep (2 ft beyond
the existing excavation and 5 ft below present depth. )
EmnronrYmen&Services•Hyd%r geolWY•Geotechnical Services
