PUBLit HEALTH SERVICES v Pp N
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
IOGI KHANNA M.D..M.M.
Health Officer
P.O. Box 2009 • (1601 East Hazelton Avenue) •Stockton, CaJ9 mia 95201
(209) 468-3400
EDWARD GOTELLI
GOTELLI TRUCKING
P O BOX 55103
STOCKTON CA 95205 JUL ig9
RE: Gotelli Trucking SPIE CODE: 1445
1649 East Channel Street
Stockton CA
APN 153-030-20
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD)
has reviewed documents regarding the above mentioned site and has the following
comments for your consideration.
Three underground storage tanks were removed October 7, 1988, a 350 gallon waste oil
tank, a 8,000 gallon diesel tank, and a 10,000 gallon diesel tank. Soil contamination was
documented during tank removal sampling. A re-excavation to remove soil
contamination associated with the diesel tanks occurred January 27, 1989 and
contaminated stockpiles resulted from this re-excavation. The contaminated stockpiles
have remained on site and require either disposal or treatment. Residual soil
contamination, documented at 8 feet, is associated with the waste oil tank (8500 ppm
total extractable hydrocarbons, TPEH) and will require father investigation and/or
remediation. Residual soil contamination remains as a potential source of contamination
to groundwater.
A 1,000 gallon gasoline tank was removed July 12, 1990. Soil contamination was
documented during the tank removal, at 11 feet (11.5 ppm benzene, 430 ppm toluene,
380 ppm ethylbenzene, 1870 ppm xylene, 6100 ppm total petroleum hydrocarbons -
gasoline and 83 ppm total lead). Residual soil contamination remains as a potential
source of contamination to groundwater. Further investigation and/or remediation of soil
contamination associated with the gasoline underground storage tank will be necessary.
Additionally, a groundwater investigation may be necessary to determine whether the
water quality has been compromised.
As discussed during the July 13, 1992 telecommunication between you and a member of
my staff, a work plan and/or soil remediation plan must be submitted by August 28, 1992
and should include a stockpile characterization plan, a soil disposal plan and a soil
investigation/remediation plan.
A Division of San Joaquin Counry Heahh tare Servrces
