PHS/EHD has evaluated the site for
closure/site certification and has determined that all appropriate response actions have been completed, that all
acceptable remedial practices were implemented, and that no further investigation, remediation or monitoring is
required at this site, with regard to the former petroleum underground storage tanks located at this site and based
on information which is currently and actually known.
A series of remedial efforts were implemented. Extensive excavation removed soil contamination to 39 feet below
. grade and investigation provided data to determine that the extent of residual soil contamination. Residual soil
contamination, 127 cubic yards at 4.38 ppm average concentration, resulted from approximately 0.22 gallons of
gasoline.
Groundwater wells were installed to investigate any possible impact which the soil contamination may have on
groundwater quality. With few exceptions since 1993, groundwater contamination was not detected.
Please be informed that PHS/EHD will certify the site for closure and direct the responsible parties to destroy the
three monitoring wells, MWI - MW3, unless the Regional Board responds within 30 days of the date of this letter
either rejecting the recommended closure or requesting additional time to review PHS/EHD's recommendation for
closure.
