Gotelli
Subject: Removal of Underground Fuel Storage Tank
1.649' East Channel Street
Stockton, California I 1
I I f
Dear Sirs:
f
I f
On July 12, 1990, the MARK Group, Engineers & Geologists, Inc. (MARK)
removed one 1,000-gallon underground fuel tank from 1649 East Channel Street,
Stockton, California (see Drawing 1 for attached for Site Location Map) .
This work was performed under the terms of your Agreement with MARK of May
29, 1990.
• The permits necessary to proceed with the removal of the tanks were
obtained from the following regulatory authorities:
■ San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health
Division
■ Bureau of Fire Prevention, StocktonFire Department `
United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA Site '
Generator, I.D. # CAC 000282809)
? Upon receipt of the permits, appointmentsi were scheduled with Miss Carol
Oz of the San Joaquin County Public Health Services and Mr. Kent Miller of i
the Stockton Fire Department so that they could observe the tank removal
operations. s
I '
The tank was exposed by excavating the soil that covered it. During the
excavation, it was revealed that the backfill material over the tank was
affected by spillage of gasoline. The total ;4quantity of material excavated I
-= from the tank pit was approximately 11 cubic yards. This soil has been
stockpiled on the north side of the pit. I
Dry ice (CO2) was placed in the tank prior to its exhumation to displace
potentially explosive vapors. This renderedt the tank inert before it was }
lifted from its pit. Inspection of the tank after it was brought to the {
surface showed it to be intact without holes and free of significant
corrosion. A copy of the hazardous materials inspection form completed by r
Miss Oz is attached as Appendix A.
7 `
Z
Hookstan Square.
