transportation was supervised b representatives of Ned Pepper, Inc (NPI) Additional <br /> . porta pe Y P PP <br />' impacted soil stockpile on-site, but excavated from 1634 East Channel Street, was also <br /> transported and disposed at BFI at the same time <br /> 2.3 Tank Removal, July 1990 <br /> On July 12, 1990, a 1,000-gallon gasoline tank was removed from the site by the MARK <br />' Group This tank was located on the south-central portion of the site, near Channel Street <br /> (see Figure 2) Two soil samples were collected from beneath the tank, both samples showed <br /> detectable levels of total petroleum hydrocarbons The analytical results are summarized in <br />' Table 2 <br />' 3 0 SITE ASSESSMENT <br /> 3.1 Depth to Groundwater <br />' The depth to groundwater was estimated to be 65 to 70 feet below surface grade, based on <br /> maps prepared by San Joaquin County Department of Public Works, Flood Control Section <br /> t (1990) This depth was confirmed during drilling in March 1993, when groundwater was first <br /> encountered at a depth of between 65 and 70 feet and subsequently stabilized at a depth of <br /> approximately 68 feet In an earlier letter to Mr Ed Gotelli, dated December 11, 1992, the <br /> PHS/EHD reported that seasonal high groundwater (1986) at this site was estimated to be <br /> between 45 and 50 feet <br /> Since petroleum hydrocarbons were detected at depths of 40 and 50 feet in boring B1 (tank <br /> cavity), the PHS/EHD required a groundwater investigation Subsequently, three monitoring <br /> wells were installed at the site in March 1993 <br /> 3,2 Initial Assessment and Drilling, October 1992 <br />' On October 9, 1992, a soil boring was installed in the center of the former gasoline tank <br /> cavity to a depth of 60 feet. Samples were collected at five-foot intervals and analyzed for <br />' total petroleum hydrocarbons(TPH as gasoline)and volatile aromatics (BTE&X) Analytical <br /> results are summarized in Table 3 GeoAudit concluded in the Soil Boring Installation <br /> Report dated November 16, 1992, that assessment of the extent of contamination could be <br /> achieved by further excavation <br /> 3.3 Monitoring Well Installation and Sampling, March 1993 <br /> On March 9 and 10, 1993, three soil bonngs (Bl through B3) were drilled to a depth of 77 <br /> feet Samples were collected at five-foot intervals and selected samples were analyzed for <br /> I <br /> 0-66-1 Ards S.�Irt <br /> Idid.Cll� � <br /> I <br />
