i <br />r QUARTERLY REPORT y <br />April 1994 <br />Mid -Cal Leasing <br />1649 East Channel Street <br />Stockton, California , ' <br />1.0 INTRODUCTION <br />f, " <br />��n <br />In accordance with a request from Mr Ed Gotelli of Mid -Cal Leasing (MCL), Geological <br />Audit Services, Inc (GeoAudit) has performed quarterly groundwater monitoring <br />procedures at 1649 East Channel Street in Stockton, California (the site) for the second <br />quarter of 1994 A well survey to assess the distance to production wells for municipal, <br />domestic, agricultural and industnal uses was performed Also included in this report is a_--,! <br />complete history of assessment and; remediation activities at the site ` <br />2.0 BACKGROUND <br />2.1 Land Use <br />The site is located in a flat, commercial/liaht industrial area of central Stockton (Figure 1) <br />The site is currently vacant and undeveloped A residential area is located northeast of the <br />site <br />2.2 Tank Removal, October 1988 <br />It is our understanding that one 8,000 -gallon diesel tank and one 10,000 -gallon diesel tank <br />were removed from the site on October 7, 1988 Soil contamination was encountered dunng <br />the tank removal The contaminated soil was excavated from the former tank cavity The <br />excavated soil was characterized and disposed of at a properly licensed landfill facility <br />On October 7, 1988, a 1,000 -gallon gasoline tank was removed from the site According to <br />a letter from the San Joaquin County Public Health Services - Environmental Health <br />Division (PHS/EHD), soil samples collected from beneath the tank showed detectable levels <br />of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH as gasoline at 6,000 ppm) and volatile aromatics <br />(benzene at 115 ppm, toluene at 430 ppm, ethylbenzene at 380 ppm, and xylenes at 1,870 <br />ppm) The location of the former tank excavation is presented as Figure 2 <br />2.3 Depth to Groundwater <br />The depth to groundwater was estimated to be 65 to 70 feet below surface grade, based on <br />i <br />i <br />Gaekpal Ando Servet Inc <br />1A'L*914 Q -I OR <br />I <br />
