3 The twenty samples were composited by the laboratory into five samples for analysis The
composited samples were each analyzed for TPH as gasoline, BTE&X, and Total Lead.
Upon completion of the soil characterization, the soil was transported on December 1, 1993,
by R Bauerle Trucking to B and J Landfill, Inc m Vacaville, California under Non-
hazardous Waste Manifest (Manifest Numbers 3802 through 3822, 5125 through 5129, and
4942) A total of 486 yards of soil was transported The laboratory report, chain-of-custody,
and manifests are attached in Appendix C
2.8 Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring, October 1993
On October 14, 1993, personnel from GeoAudit attempted to purge standing water from the
monitoring wells using a submersible pump However, because of heavy equipment
operation at the site, the wells contained too much silt and could not be purged Personnel
returned to the site on October 18, 1993 to redevelop the wells and perform the third -
quarter monitoring Comparison of the June and October measurements indicates that
water levels had dropped approximately one foot in all wells (Table 3) The hydraulic
gradient was calculated to be 0 0050 ft/ft directed S 72°E This gradient is steeper than the
previous gradient of 0 0025 ft/ft, but the direction is nearly identical to the previous direction
of S 70°E No petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in any of the samples (Table 4)
3,0 GROUNDWATER MONITORING, JANUARY 1994
3.1 Well Monitoring and Sampling
On January 14, 1994, personnel from GeoAudit performed the fourth monitoring event A
Solinst water level meter was used to measure the depth to groundwater in the three
monitonng wells (Table 3) Additional depth to groundwater measurements were collected
in February 1994 After water levels were measured, the wells were purged to stabilize the
temperature, pH, and conductivity using PVC bailers A Cambridge Scientific Instruments -
Hydac Monitor was used to measure the stability parameters Approximately 10 gallons of
water were purged from each well to stabilize the temperature, pH, and conductivity. The
groundwater stabilization data are included as Table d The purge water was placed in DOT-
approved drums and stored on-site
Water samples were collected after temperature and other parameters stabilized Water
samples were collected using disposable teflon bailers The samples were collected in EPA-
vials, capped with teflon faced silicone septum, chilled, and transported to Sparger
Technology, Inc (STI) for analysis
'd„'.'Inc 11
1.61/2 9./Md GI QR
