U
Ms. Lori Duncan,REHS Page 5 of 8
San Joaquin Environmental Health Department
June 9, 2005
Classification System. Total depth for the borings is approximately8 feet bgs. Proposed SVE/AS well
locations are shown in Figure 2. SVE and sparge well screen intery n on Figure 3.
AS wells will be constructed using 1-inch OD, schedule-80, flush-threaded polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
well casing. Two feet of 0.020-inch machine slotted, schedule-80 PVC well screen will be set from
approximately 36 to 38 feet bgs. A Monterey No. 2/12 silica sand filter pack (sand), or equivalent, will
be installed from 6-inches below the screen to 3-feet above the screen. A 2-foot bentonite seal will be
installed above the sand, and grout will be used to fill the remaining annular space to 2 feet below the
bottom of the SVE well screen. " tom, 1,-f r;Nnite-se 1
from-the-SVE—we:: ;..,mss.
SVE wells will be constructed using 2-inch OD, schedule-80, flush-threaded PVC well casing. Ten feet
of 0.020-inch machine slotted, schedule-80 PVC well screen will be set from 15 feet to 25 feet bgs.
Sand will be installed from 1 foot below the screen (on top of the;Lfoot bentonite seal) to 3 feet above
the screen. A 2 foot bentonite seal will be placed atop the SVE well sand, and grout will fill the
remaining annular space to near surface. Groundwater is currently approximately 20 feet bgs.
Remediation wells will be completed at the surface with a traffic-rated, flush-mounted well vault.
Plumbing attachments will be placed on the top of each casing for connection to the future on-site
remediation system. The wells will be completed under the direction of a URS geologist. Exact screen
intervals will be determined in the field by the URS geologist. Well completion details will be presented
on the boring logs.
Task 3—SVE/AS System Installation,Troubleshooting,and Startup
Upon receipt of approved permits from City of Stockton, system piping and compound construction will
begin. The SVE and sparge equipment will not be installed until a permit has been issued from the
SJVUAPCD. Upon completion of system installation, the system will be operated to verify the correct
operation of all process equipment and controls and to troubleshoot and repair any component of the
system that is not operating correctly. Once the system is fully operable, official startup will occur.
Startup data will be evaluated to determine the remediation system performance.
URS will submit the appropriate permits and fees following approval of this workplan.
Task 4—Installation Technical Report
Approximately 6 to 8 weeks following completion of these installation field activities, URS will prepare
a report summarizing the system installation and initial analytical results.
K:\Wprmess\J5 BP ARCO\02168\2005 System Installatim\SVE-AS Workplao.doe
