The subsurface
investigation consisted of drilling one angle soil boring and instal ng two vapor extraction
wells The purpose of this investigation was to further charactenze soil directly beneath
and adjacent to the underground storage tanks (USTs) and to provide vapor extraction
coverage in the vicinity of the USTs. Groundwater monitoring consisted of measuring
depth to groundwater, collecting groundwater samples from the wells for subjective and
Laboratory analyses, and calculating the groundwater gradient and direction of groundwater
flow beneath the site
' BACKGROUND
RESNA Industries (RESNA) of Rancho Cordova, California, observed the drilling of four soil
borings (B-1 through B-4) at the site in July 1991 during a preliminary tank replacement
assessment investigation Residual gasoline hydrocarbons were detected in soil samples
' collected from the bormgs. Boring locations are shown on Figure 2. The site was added to the
San Joaquin County Public Health Services (SJCPHS), Environmental Health Division, pilot
program on August 5, 1991 Based on information supplied by ARCO, the waste oil tank was
removed on November 18, 1986.
' In April and May 1992, RESNA observed the drilling of eight additional soil borings (B-5
through B-12), installation of three groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1 through
MW-3), and three vapor extraction wells (VW-1 through VW-3) Well locations are
shown on Figure 2 Gasoline hydrocarbons were detected in samples collected from the
 c
borings Total ail and grease (TOG), halogenated volatile organic compounds {HVOCs},
and polychlormated biphenyls were not detected in the samples analyzed, however, total
extractable hydrocarbons were detected During drilling on April 28, 1992, approximately
iSACIN 1P1a10805kU805 L460 3BL-951pas 3
