Y <br /> �1 EC®R Associates <br /> 1433 North Market Boulevard • Sacramento California 95834 1943 • (916)928-3300• Fax(916)928-3341 <br />• <br /> April 27, 1995 <br /> Project 0805-1460 003 <br /> Mr Kyle Christie RECEIVED <br /> ARCO Products Company MAY O 1 1995 <br /> 2155 South Bascom, Suite 202 ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH <br /> Campbell, California 95008 PERMIT/SERVICES <br /> Re First Quarter 1995 Status Report for ARCO Service Station No 2168, 441 Charter Way, <br /> Stockton, California <br /> Dear Mr Christie <br /> At the request of ARCO Products Company (ARCO), EMCON is conducting an environmental <br /> investigation at the subject site (see Figure 1) We have prepared this status report based on the work <br /> conducted during the first quarter 1995, which included measuring depth to groundwater, collecting <br /> groundwater samples from the wells for subjective and laboratory analyses, and calculating the <br /> groundwater gradient and direction of groundwater flow beneath the site <br />• <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> RESNA Industries (RESNA) of Rancho Cordova, California, observed drilling of four soil borings <br /> (B-1 through B-4) at the site in July 1991 during a preliminary tank replacement assessment <br /> investigation Residual gasoline hydrocarbons were detected in soil samples collected from the borings <br /> Boning locations are shown in Figure 2 The site was added to the San Joaquin County Public Health <br /> Services (SJCPHS), Environmental Health Division,pilot program on August 5, 1991 <br /> In April and May 1992, RESNA observed the drilling of eight additional soil borings (B-5 through <br /> B-12) and installation of three groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-3) and three <br /> vapor extraction wells (VW-1 through VW-3) Well locations are shown on Figure 2 Gasoline <br /> hydrocarbons were detected in samples collected from the borings Total oil and grease (TOG), <br /> halogenated volatile organic compounds (HVOCs), and polychlorinated biphenyls were not <br /> detected in the samples analyzed, however, total extractable hydrocarbons were detected During <br /> drilling on April 28, 1992, approximately 5 gallons of gasoline were released from a fractured <br /> product line between the dispenser islands and the underground tank cavity Results of the initial <br /> assessment of the release were reported in RESNA's second quarter 1992 status report and <br /> addendum workplan (RESNA, August 11, 1992, Report 31009-6) <br /> Dissolved gasoline hydrocarbons were detected in water samples collected from the three wells <br />. Purgeable halocarbons were not detected, except for 1,2-dichloroethane which was detected in <br /> monitoring well MW-2 Fecal and total coliform bacteria were not detected in the sample <br /> collected from well MW-3 <br /> SAC\N 1PJ010805108051460 3AL-94\dtm 1 <br />
