HEALTH <br /> PERMIT/SERVICES <br /> ARCO Products Company <br /> P O Box 5811 y 1�� <br /> San Mateo, California 94402 `7 1 <br /> Re Fourth Quarter 1994 Status Report for ARCO Service Station No 2168,44-1 Charter <br /> Way, Stockton, California <br /> Dear Mr Christie <br /> At the request of ARCO Products Company (ARCO), EMCON is conducting an environmental <br /> investigation at the subject site (see Figure 1) We have prepared this status report based on the work <br /> conducted during the fourth quarter 1994, which included measuring depth to groundwater, collecting <br /> groundwater samples from the wells for subjective and laboratory analyses, and calculating the <br />�1 <br /> groundwater gradient and direction of groundwater flow beneath the site <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> RESNA Industries (RESNA) of Rancho Cordova, California observed drilling of four soil borings(B-1 <br /> through B-4) at the site in July 1991 during a preliminary tank replacement assessment investigation. <br /> Residual gasoline hydrocarbons were detected in soil samples collected from the bonngs The site was <br /> added to the San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division pilot program <br /> on August 5, 1991 <br /> In April and May 1992, RESNA observed drilling of eight additional soil borings (B-5 through B-12) <br /> and installation of three groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-3) and three vapor <br /> extraction wells (VW-1 through VW-3) Well locations are shown on Figure 2 Gasoline hydrocarbons <br /> were detected in samples collected from the borings Total oil and grease (TOG), halogenated volatile <br /> organic compounds, and polychlontnated biphenyls were not detected in the samples analyzed; <br /> however, total extractable hydrocarbons were detected During drilling on April 28, 1992, <br /> approximately 5 gallons of gasoline were released from a fractured product lme between the dispenser <br /> islands and the underground tank cavity Results of the initial assessment of the release were reported <br /> in RESNA's second quarter 1992 status report and addendum workplan (RESNA, August 11, 1992, <br /> Report 31009-6) <br /> Dissolved gasoline hydrocarbons were detected in water samples collected from the three wells <br /> Purgeable halocarbons were not detected, except for 1,2-dichloroethane which was detected in <br /> sAClN Ipi010805108051460 1cm-95/mars 5 <br />
