•
June 9, 1993
ARCO Service Station 2168, Stockton, California Working To Restore Nature
•
Task 2: Field Operations and Laboratory Analyses
o Drill one soil boring west of the station and one boring southwest of the station in
Lincoln Avenue The borings will be terminated 15 feet into ground water or 5 feet
into a confining layer below the top of ground water We estimate terminating the
borings at approximately 55 feet below grade The borings will be converted to 2-
inch-diameter monitoring wells
O Collect relatively undisturbed soil samples at 5-foot intervals or lithology changes
0 from the ground surface to the total depth of each boring and classify soil samples
according to the Unified Soil Classification System
o Develop, purge, and sample the two offsite wells
0 o Submit appropriate soil samples to a State-certified laboratory for analysis of TPHg
and BTEX using EPA Methods 8015/5030 (modified) and 8020, respectively
o Submit water samples from the two offsite wells to a State-certified laboratory for
analysis of TPHg and BTEX using EPA Methods 8015/5030 (modified) and 602,
l respectively,and 1,2 dichloroethane and 1,2-dichloropropane using EPA Method 601.
o Collect four soil samples from the drill cuttings to be composited at the laboratory
and analyzed for TPHg and BTEX using previously stated methods, total lead using
EPA 7421, and corrosivity, ignitability, and reactivity Results of analyses will be
used to evaluate disposal options Drill cuttings will be stored at the ARCO station
We will provide ARCO's subcontractors with the laboratory data needed for disposal
of drill cuttings and rinse water.
Task 3: Report Preparation
a If the data acquired from the proposed offsite
P groundwater assessment further
supports the opinion that the source of hydrocarbons beneath the site is from an
offsite source, a Problem Assessment Report will be prepared for submittal to the
SJCPHS-EHD
The work will be performed in accordance with the Tri-Regional Board Staff
Recommendations for Preliminary Evaluation and Investigation of Underground Tank Sites
(California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region, August 1990),
Appendix A to that document (August 1991), and the Leaking Underground Fuel Tank
Manual (California Leaking Underground Fuel Tank Task Force, 1989)
0209ccar
31009-7 6
