Working to Restore Nature
4.5 Laboratory Analyses
Soil and water samples were submitted to various State-certified laboratories for the
requested analyses. Table 5 summarizes the laboratories used, analyses requested, and
methods of testing employed. Copies of the Chain of Custody Records and laboratory
reports for soil and groundwater samples are included in Appendix C
5.0 SITE CONDITIONS
5.1 Site Geology
Sediments beneath the site consist primarily of silt to clayey silt with clay lenses from
surface grade to approximately 33 feet bsg and silty sand and sand from 33 to 57 feet bsg
Two generalized cross-sections A-A' and B-B' (Plates 3 and 4), constructed using the Logs
of Borings, show our interpretation of the geology at the site. The surface trace of these
cross-sections is shown on Plate 2
5.2 Site Hydrogeology
Groundwater was encountered at approximately 41 to 43 feet bsg during drilling Water-
bearing sediments consist of silt with some clay, silty sand, and fine-grained sand.
Since monitoring began, the depth to water beneath the site has fluctuated from
approximately 37 to 44 feet bsg. Based on information provided by San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department (1986), seasonal high for static groundwater has been
at approximately 30 feet below surface grade (bsg). The direction of groundwater flow has
varied from northeast to southeast, and the groundwater gradient has varied from 0 0009 to
0.01. The direction of flow and the hydraulic gradients evaluated for the site are shown in
31009-10 7
