"AWAkWAR
Working to Restore Nature
On April 28, 1992, while clearing underground utilities, a product line (Plate 2) was
accidently fractured and subsequently leaked approximately 2 to 5 gallons into adjacent soil.
To evaluate the effects of the leak, we collected a soil sample above the product line (S-1-
PL1) and a sample below the product line (S-5-PL2) for laboratory analyses Results of
analyses indicated TPHg were detected at concentrations of 45 ppm and 4,100 ppm
5.4 Free Product i roundwater
Results of subjective analyses of groundwater samples collected during the groundwater
monitoring events indicated floating product has not been p;esent in monitoring wells MW-1
through MW-7 (Table 4).
5.5 Dissolved Hydrocarbons and Other Constituents in Groundwater
Results of analyses of groundwater samples indicated dissolved gasoline hydrocarbons have
been detected in samples from the seven wells (Table 4) Concentrations of TPHg detected
in wells MW-1 through MW-7 have ranged from 12,000 parts per billion (ppb) to 110,000
ppb, and concentrations of benzene have ranged from 2,100 ppb to 16,000 ppb Based on
the last sampling event (October 28, 1993), the highest concentrations were detected 1n well
MW-6, which is upgradtent of the site Concentrations of TPHg and benzene detected 1n
wells MW-1 through MW-7 on October 28, 1993, are plotted on Plate 10 and Plate 11
Results of analyses indicated total extractable hydrocarbons and TOG were detected to
water samples collected from well MW-2 TOG concentrations ranged from 0 6 ppb to
5,400 ppb 1,2-Dlchloroethane was detected 1n the seven wells at concentrations ranging
from 0 5 ppb to 690 ppb (well MW-6), and 1,2-dichloropropane was detected 1n wells MW-1,
MW-2, MW-4, MW-5, and MW-7 at concentrations ranging from 0 8 ppb to 24 ppb (well
MW-5) Total and fecal coliform bacteria were not detected in water samples from wells
31004-10 9
