P".ane Hinson
San Joaquin Local Health District
1.501 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
RE: SUBSURFACE ENVIRONMENTIL INVESTIGATION
TEXACO SERVICE STATION .
440 CHARTER WAY
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
Dear Ms. Hinson:
"^ Presented below are proposed work steps for a subsurface environ-
mental investigation at the above-referenced site. The work
steps are being proposed in addition to a previously Submitted
work plan dated November 10, 1988, and in response toa letter
from the San Joaquin Local Health District (SJLHD)
mber
29, 1988.
In your letter you stated that work steps proposed in our
original work plan may not a,.equately define the vertical and
lateral extent of hydrocarbon in the subsurface soils. Specifl-
cally, your office was concernedthat placement
tof the
on of
proposed soil borings may padequate
potentially impacted subsurface soils. In order to further
define the vertical and lateral extent of subsurfao' osed
carbons, the following additional work steps are proposed:
Drill , log, and sample additional borings in the
vicinity of the removed product dispensers (Fle gure 1)
' This would include the dr.11ing of ang
access the subsurface sails beneath the existing
station canopy.
Drill , log, and sample additional on-site borings as
needed to better define any impacted subsurface soils.
These additional borings would be drilled if field
}4- d
evidence indicates that hydrocarbon impacted soils are
more widespread.
rhnuiyhuu!!he(:S.,Cunuda aad(T Y"-dJ
q
:i
