CAMBRIA
and broken glass It appears that the well had been broken into and filled with gravel, glass,
and other garbage
Use of the vacuum truck on November 27, 2000 resulted in removal of only three feet of
blockage material in a two hour period With an additional 35 feet of well casing to clean
out, we concluded this method of clearing the blockage material from the well was not cost
effective
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Groundwater samples collected from the monitoring wells this quarter contained petroleum
hydrocarbon concentrations similar to previous quarters' concentrations
Well MW-16 remains obstructed and we are not able to collect groundwater samples from
this well Since this well is essentially useless, but yet remains a liability, we plan to properly
destroy this well We will submit an application for a permit to destroy this well
We feel that replacement of MW-16 is not warranted since the primary issue at this site is
`
TPI-Ig and benzene, and the levels of these constituents in wells (MW-3, MW-S, MW-10)
located closest to MW-16 show stable or declining concentrations This indicates the plume
in this area of the site is stable and/or shrinking Previous analytical data from MW-16
shows that the plume had not migrated as far south as MW-16 Since the plume appears to
be stable and/or shrinking we feel there is no longer a need for delineation in this area of the
site
r k
1399 2
