1.0 INTRODUCTION
At the request of Texaco Environmental Services (TES), Science & Engineering Analysis
Corporation (SEACOR®) has prepared this Interim Soil Remediation Work Plan (SRWP) for
the Texaco Service Station at 440 West Charter Way in Stockton, California. Previous
environmental investigations performed by Groundwater Technology, Inc. (GTI) of West
Sacramento, California have identified the presence of gasoline residual hydrocarbons in
soil and groundwater beneath the site
1.1 Purpose of Interim Remedial Plan
The purpose of this interim remedial plan is to summarize the results of environmental
investigations performed to date, identify the appropriate technology, and implement a
corrective action based on the results of investigations. The SRWP` presents results of
hydrogeologic measurements, results of field tests and/or laboratory pilot studies, and
conceptual remedial system design for a treatment system to remediate residual
hydrocarbon impacted soil This information is presented in following sections of this
report After approval of the SRWP by the appropriate agencies, corrective actions at the
• site may proceed.
1.2 Background
\ The site is located at 440 West Charter Way in the city of Stockton, California (Figure 1).
The site is currently an operating retail gasoline station with four underground storage
tanks (USTs); three 10,000 gallon and one 12,040 gallon. Locations of pertinent site
structures and USTs are shown on the Site Plan (Figure 2).
The site is bounded to the north by Charter Way and to the west by Lincoln Street To the
north of the site across Charter Way and to the west across Lincoln Street are retail
gasoline stations To the south and east of the site are retail businesses (Figure 3)
A survey of wells within a half mile radius of the site indicated that there are three
domestic wells and and one municipal well (GTI, October 9, 1990) This data was based
upon the available information at the California Department of Water Resources in
Sacramento, California. These well Iocations are shown on Figure 1.
1.3 Previous Site Investigations
In October 1988 during new construction activities, soil containing hydrocarbons was
observed beneath 2 pump islands during removal Soil beneath the eastern pump island was
excavated to approximately 15 feet below surface grade (BSG). GTI collected samples
from the sidewalls and bottom of the excavation and submitted the samples for laboratory
analyses (GTI, 1990) Results indicated that the sample collected from the bottom of the
excavation (15 feet BSG) contained gasoline hydrocarbons. Diesel range hydrocarbons were
TEXSTOCK SRW SEACOR
N0001-006-01 I
