(ARCADIS BBL, formerly known as Blasland, Bouck& Lee, David M Evans
Inc.), on behalf of Chevron Environmental Management Company(Chevron), has PhO11e1
prepared this letter to address comments to ARCADIS BBL's Additional Groundwater 916.857.0124 x226
Assessment Work Plan (Work Plan)dated July 12, 2007 provided by the San
C-mail:
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(County)correspondence dated David.Evans@
July 26, 2007. The County's comments to the Work Plan are shown below in bold arcadis-us.com
Italics. A response follows each comment below:
Our rer.
What is unclear to EHD is whether the shallow zone wells'objective is to target B0045469.0000
the `low permeability clay/silt/sand deposits"commonly encountered at
approximately 20 feet bgs or the sand layer commonly encountered at 30 feet
bgs...
The primary purpose of the shallow wells to be installed in the four proposed
monitoring well clusters is to monitor groundwater quality in the first encountered
groundwater at the water table underlying the site. We plan to avoid extending these
well screens into the sand unit commonly encountered at 30 feet below grade, as the
three existing monitoring wells (MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3, screened from
approximately 30 to 50 feet below grade)appear to currently monitor this deeper
groundwater flow zone.
ARCADIS BBL understands the County's concerns regarding the historic low
groundwater levels(up to approximately 33 feet below grade); however, depth to
groundwater at the site has not been greater than 32 feet below grade since
Imagine the result
c.+on nvoam'na.zosmazw_msnzosa.c:c m ro,,,mcu.a.
