Charter Way, Stockton, CA
Attached Groundwater Monitoring Report(Blaine Tech, 1/4/96)
Dear Mr. Knoll:
Please find attached a report dated January 4, 1996,which was prepared by Chevron's consultant,Blaine
Tech Services, Inc. (Blaine Tech),to describe the results of groundwater monitoring that was performed at
the subject site on November 16, 1995.
In November, Blaine Tech gauged and sampled all three site-related wells. The measured direction of
• groundwater flow beneath the site was northeasterly. Groundwater samples collected from each well were
analyzed for the presence of TPHGas and BTEX constituents. In addition, samples from well MW-1 were
analyzed for waste oil constituents(i.e.,TPHDiesel,total oil and grease, soluble metals, and semi-volatile
organic compounds -S VOC's, and halogenated volatile organic compounds-HVOC's).
Dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons were present at wells MW-1 and MW-3. The measured concentrations
of dissolved gasoline constituents were higher at well MW-1 than those detected during the previous site
monitoring event.Data obtained from this well next quarter will be evaluated to determine if an
increasing trend is developing. No dissolved hydrocarbons were detected at well MW-2. Groundwater
from MW-1 also contained measurable concentrations of 1,2 Dichloroethane (17 ppb)and Phenol(8.3
ppb). An unidentified hydrocarbon was reported during TPHDiesel analysis of groundwater from well
MW-t. The unidentified constituent eluted within the C9-C24 range of hydrocarbons and probably
represents highly degraded(old)gasoline. The reported levels of metals at well MW-1 were mainly non-
detect and were significantly lower than those previously reported. The recent measurements reflect the
concentration of metals dissolved in groundwater and not the total metal concentration as measured
before. The latest measurements are thought to be reflective of naturally occurring background metal
concentrations.
If you have any questions or comments,I can be reached at(510) 842-8695.
Sincerely,
Brett L. Hunter
•
Environmental Engineer
Site Assessment and Remediation
