Stockton,CA
Attached Groundwater Monitoring Report(Blaine Tech,9/11/95)
Dear Mr. Knoll:
Attached you will find a report dated September 11, 1995,which was prepared by Chevron's consultant,
Blaine Tech Services,Inc. (Blaine Tech),to describe the results of groundwater monitoring that was
performed at the subject site on August 15, 1995.
In August,Blaine Tech gauged and sampled all three site-related wells. The measured direction of
groundwater flow beneath the site was toward the southwest. Groundwater samples collected from each
well were analyzed for the presence of TPHGas,BTEX constituents, and halogenated volatile organic
compounds(HVOC's). In addition, samples from well MW-1 were analyzed for waste oil constituents
(i.e.,TPHDiesel,total oil and grease, metals,and semi-volatile organic compounds- SVOC's).
Dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons were again, detected at wells MW-I and MW-3. The measured
concentrations were consistent with those detected during the previous site monitoring event. No dissolved
hydrocarbons were detected at well MW-2. Groundwater from MW-1 also contained measurable
concentrations of 1,2 Dichloroethane. Phenol was not detected at well MW-1. An unidentified
hydrocarbon was reported during TPHDiesel analysis of groundwater from well MW-1. No further
elaboration was made as to what the unidentified constituent may be. The reported levels of total metals
from MW-1 were consistent with those reported for the last monitoring event. It should be pointed out that
these values represent total levels and are not necessarily representative of what is dissolved in
groundwater. Therefore, subsequent measurements will analyze only for those metals dissolved in
groundwater.
The detection of hydrocarbons at the upgradient well(MW-3)still suggests the possibility of an offsite
source. I will look to confirm this suspicion at the upcoming meeting at your agency on October 30, 1995.
If you have any questions or comments,I can be reached at(510) 842-8695.
•
Sincerely,
