Ms Victoria McCartney
' 07/28/06
•
' Agency (CaIEPA) procedures outlined in Representative Sampling of Groundwater for Hazardous
Substances(CaIEPA, 1995)
' A three-well-volume purging and sample technique, using a decontaminated stack pump and disposable
bailers were used for groundwater purging and sample collection Field parameters were measured after
each well volume using the following series of activities and sampling protocols
1 • During the purge cycle, groundwater field parameter measurements consisting of specific
conductance,pH, and temperature were measured using a groundwater water-quality meter
• At least three times the volume of standing water was purged from the monitoring well Field
parameters were recorded on a well volume basis
' • After the purge cycle was complete, a groundwater sample was collected for analysis with a
disposable polyethylene bailer and transferred to the appropriate laboratory-supplied sample
' containers prefilled with preservative
Groundwater monitoring and sampling field data sheets are presented in Attachment 1 Purge water and
' equipment decontamination water generated during the sampling event were containerized for offsite
disposal
Laboratory Analysts
' Subsequent to collection, samples were packed on ice, cooled to approximately 4° centigrade, and
shipped under appropriate chain-of-custody protocols for analysis to Lancaster Laboratories (Lancaster)
I of Lancaster Pennsylvania, a California Department of Health Services-certified analytical laboratory
Analyses included the following parameters
I • total petroleum hydrocarbons in the gasoline range [TPH-G (C6-CIO)], total petroleum
hydrocarbons in the diesel range [TPH-D (C,o-C28)], total petroleum hydrocarbons in the motor
oil range [TPH-MO (C16-C36)], and methanol by United States Environmental Protection Agency
(USEPA)Method 8015,
• benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX)by USEPA Method 8260B, and
i • tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA), methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE), di-isopropyl alcohol (DIPE),
ethyl tertiary butyl alcohol (ETBE), tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME), 1,2-dichloroethane
(1,2-DCA), ethylene dibromide (EDB), and ethanol by USEPA Method 8260B r
iQuality assurance/quality control samples inclusive of trip blanks were also submitted for laboratory
analysis A laboratory supplied trip blank accompanied each sample delivery group Analytical results
i for the quarterly groundwater monitoring event are included as attachments to the G-R Groundwater
Monitoring& Sampling Report, (Attachment 1)
i
i
•
022603054 doc
i BLASLAND, BOUCK& LEE, INC
an ARCADIS company
