.f INTRODUCTION <br /> This report summarizes the field and sampling activities <br /> performed at former Chevron Station No 9-2033 located at <br /> 508 West Charter Way, Stockton, California (Figure 1 ) during <br /> the removal of the Underground Storage Tanks (USTs ) , <br /> associated piping, hoists, oil/water separator, and limited <br /> overexcavation activities UST removal and excavation <br /> activities were performed by Wendt and Sons, Construction of <br /> Lodi, California A Touchstone Developments ' (Touchstone) <br /> representative was present on-site to observe the UST <br /> removal , and obtain soil samples from the tank excavation, <br /> piping trenches , overexcavation and soil stockpiles . The <br /> soil sampling activities described in this report were <br /> performed September 9 , 1996 through November 1996, and March <br /> 4 , 1997 to comply with the current Regional Water Quality <br /> Control Board (RWQCB ) and San Joaquin County Guidelines . <br /> SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> The site is located on the southwest corner of West Charter <br /> Way and South Lincoln Street and is occupied by a Chevron <br /> service station undergoing reconstruction The former UST <br /> complex was located northwest of the service station <br /> building and consisted of two 10, 000 gallon, one 6 , 000 <br /> gallon single wall fiberglass tanks containing supreme <br /> unleaded gasoline, regular unleaded gasoline, and unleaded <br /> plus gasoline. A round 1000 gallon single wall fiberglass <br /> used oil tank was located near the northwest corner of the <br /> station. And one dual-post hydraulic hoist with tank, two <br /> semi-hydraulic hoists, and an oil/water separator ( sump) <br /> were located in the service bays of the station . See Figure <br /> 1 for approximate locations <br /> FIELD EXCAVATION ACTIVITIES <br /> The four USTs , associated product lines, sump and hoists <br /> were removed on September 9 , 1996 . Tank removal and <br /> compliance sampling was witnessed by Eric W. Trevena, an <br /> inspector and representative of San Joaquin County Public <br /> Health Services , Environmental Health Division ( SJCPHS) . <br /> Also on-site were Ron H.iltscher with City of Stockton Fire <br /> Department, and Brett Hunter representing Chevron Products <br /> Company. No holes were observed in the used oil tank, <br /> gasoline USTs or product lines . <br /> Groundwater was not encountered in the UST excavations . <br /> SOIL SAMPLING <br /> UST and piping soil samples were collected under the <br /> 7 <br /> Page 1 <br />
