Charter Way
Stockton CA -
Attached Soil Analytical Report(Sequoia, 418197)
t'
Dear Mr. Knoll:
Please find attached a report dated April 8, 1997, that was issued by Chevron's contract laboratory,`
Sequoia Analytical(Sequoia), to describe the results of soil stockpile sampling that was performed at the
subject site on April 4, 1997.
There were approximately five hundred cubic yards of soil stockpiled onsite during the excavation of a
new underground fuel storage tank complex. At the request of Chevron, Touchstone Developments-
sampled the soil stockpiles for disposal characterization. A single sample was collected for every twenty
five cubic yards of stockpiled soil. Four samples were composited into one sample at the laboratory and
each was analyzed for the presence of TPHGas, BTEX constituents,MTBE, and total lead. All sample
results were non-detect for each contaminant. The reported levels of total Lead are probably indicative of 1
background levels'
f
r
In a telephone conversation earlier today, Chevron relayed to you the verbal results of the soil stockpile
sampling. At the same time, it was explained that the service station construction contractor plans to haul
the sail offsite and reuse it unconditionally as fill material at an unspecified location. Chevron's
understanding from that telephone conversation was that your agency concurs with the planned use of the
stockpiled soil. Based on this understanding, Chevron wilfinstruct the service station contractor to use the
soil as planned.
Thank you for your assistance with this matter.
