Ms. Lori Duncan
April 12, 2002
Page 3
Project 880-039.1A
petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) by modified EPA Method 8015; benzene,
toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes (BTEX) and di -isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary
butyl ether (ETBE), MtBE, tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME), and tertiary butyl
alcohol (TBA), collectively the `five oxygenates', by EPA Method 8260B. In addition
all soil samples submitted for analysis during this additional investigation activities will
be analyzed for 1,2-dichloroethane and ethylene dibromide by EPA Method 8260B.
Soil samples will be selected based on the highest photo -ionization detector (PID)
readings below 40 -feet bgs, soil water interface and from the bottom of the boring.
Well Development
The groundwater monitoring wells will be developed after completion. The
development procedure for each well will consist of pumping or bailing water from the
well until the water is visibly clear, the well goes dry, or until a maximum of ten casing
volumes have been removed.
Groundwater Analysis
Following monitoring well development, groundwater samples will be collected and
submitted to a California State -certified laboratory for analysis. Groundwater samples
will be analyzed for the presence of TPH-g, BTEX, and for five oxygenates (MtBE,
DIPE, ETBE, TAME and TBA) using EPA Methods 8015 Modified and 826013,
respectively. In addition groundwater samples collected during additional investigation
activities will be analyzed for 1,2-dichloroethane and ethylene dibromide by EPA
Method 8260B.
Well Surveying
Upon completion of well construction, the wells will be surveyed by a licensed surveyor
for location and elevation relative to mean sea level. Horizontal and vertical
groundwater gradient will be interpreted utilizing wellhead elevations and depths to
water.
IT CORPORATION
SAC:\\\SACRFP 1 \COMMON\sacDP\2002\PRJ\PJ8\880\8800391 A.2ac.doc
(01040000)
