Ms. Lori Duncan
August 31, 2005
Page 3
Project No.: 880-039.1A.01010000
hydrocarbons. The model will encompass the subsurface from the lower vadose zone
through the greatest depth of gasoline constituent impact that is determined. The model
will present the inferred lateral and vertical limits of gasoline constituent impact. It will be
used to determine whether the potential zone of treatment may be considered a single zone
or whether treatment may need to address multiple discrete zones (for example, in separate
sands that are situated above and below a low -permeability unit).
INSTALLATION OF WELLS AND AIR SPARGE TESTING
In their July 26th letter, the SJC/EHD advised Shaw that temporary wells are not routinely
permitted in the County, and requested that a more detailed description of the proposed air
sparge testing procedures be submitted before approval of the test would be granted. At
this time, Shaw is proposing to withdraw installation of the temporary wells and
performance of the air sparge test from the scope of work in the Work Plan. Shaw believes
that after the site investigation work proposed above is completed, a separate work plan for
air sparge testing or other remedial action may be developed based on the updated site
conceptual model.
CONCLUSIONS
Shaw is prepared to proceed with the scope of work presented in the Work Plan, as
amended by this addendum, upon approval by the SJC/EHD. Please call Mr. Wynne at
(916) 565-4184 if you have questions regarding this submittal, or other aspects of the
project.
Sincerely,
SHAW ENVIRONMENTAL, QR FESS/0&
U Q 55798
Andrew Lehane EXP./S%'1,VX
Senior Engineer
CIVI\-
Attachments: Figure 1 — SiteUatim
Dan Wynne
Project Manager
cc: Don Rodgers, 11190 S.
