u
LO Introduction
This Biosparge Pilot Test Work Plan describes data collection approach and field activities to be
performed in support of the design and implementation of a biosparge system at the
Transmission Shop site in Stockton, California. Biosparging was recommended as the preferred
remedial alternative to address the petroleum hydrocarbon contamination in the saturated zone at
the site, based on results of a feasibility study (FS) completed in January 2008 (Shaw
Environmental, Inc. [Shaw], 2008). The selection of this remedial alternative and the
implementation of a pilot test were approved by the California Regional Water Quality Control
Board, Central Valley Region (CVRWQCB) on January 23, 2008 (CVRWQCB, 2008).
The Pilot Test Work Plan is organized as follows:
• Section 2.0 summarizes the site description, including its environmental setting and
local geology and hydrogeology; site investigation history; and nature of
contamination.
• Section 3.0 discusses the pilot test objectives and approach.
Section 4.0 describes the pilot test system and data collection procedures.
• Section 5.0 provides field implementation details.
IBiosparge Pilot Test Final doc 1-1 Shaw Environmental, Inc.
