Ms Lori Duncan Project No 880-039 1 A <br /> June 18, 2003 <br /> Page 2 <br />�I <br />' SITE BACKGROUND <br /> The site is located at the northwest corner of the intersection of Charter Way and <br /> tLincoln Street in Stockton, California (Figure 1) The property is located in a <br /> commercial area and is currently being used as a transmission repair shop Based on <br /> information provided by the SJCEHD, two underground storage tanks (USTs) were <br /> present, and the site was historically used as a retail service station with gasoline <br /> dispensing activities ceasing sometime in the 1950s It is unknown when one of the <br /> USTs and dispenser islands were removed Thorpe Oil of Lodi, California, removed the <br /> second UST in February 1996 Residual hydrocarbons were reported in soil samples <br /> collected from beneath the UST, however, Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline <br /> (TPHg), Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd), and benzene concentrations <br />' were below laboratory detection limits <br /> In the vicinity of the subject site are several former or current service stations with UST <br /> facilities a former ARCO Service Station, a Chevron Service Station, and a <br /> Texaco Service Station Based on data collected from subsurface investigations <br /> performed at the former ARCO Service Station, Chevron Station, and Texaco Station <br /> (located at the corners of Charter Way and Lincoln Street), residual and dissolved <br /> hydrocarbons have been detected beneath those facilities <br /> Between September 17 and October 11, 1996, EMCON/OWT observed the drilling of <br /> six soil borings (BAR through B-6R) One soil boring was converted to monitoring well <br /> MW-1R, three soil borings were converted to dual completion vapor extraction wells <br /> 1 VW-1 through VW-3, and one soil boring was converted to a single vapor <br /> extraction well VW-4 (EMCON, Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report, <br /> February 5, 1997) On February 3, 2000, a SVE system was brought online To date the <br /> system has removed approximately 3,171 pounds of TPHg and 4 5 pounds of benzene <br />' (Shaw, First Quarter 2003 Status Report, dated April 29, 2003) <br /> With the exception of soil samples collected from boring B-6R, residual hydrocarbons <br /> were reported in each boring The highest petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations were <br /> 1, <br /> iIISACRFP1\COMMONIsaeDP120031Prj188018800391A 3ae doc <br />
