Emc®fl <br /> 1433 North Market Boulevard •Sacramento Coli#orn¢o 95834 1943 • (915)928-3300• Fax(916)928 3341 <br /> • <br /> May 1, 1997 <br /> Project 2613-100 01 <br /> Mr Don Rodgers <br /> 11900 South Union Road <br /> Manteca, California 95336 <br /> Re First Quarter 1997 Status Report for the Transmission Shop, Located at <br /> 515 West Charter Way, Stockton, California <br /> Dear Mr Rodgers <br /> At your request, EMCON previously conducted an environmental investigation and currently performs <br /> quarterly groundwater monitoring at the subject site (see Figure 1) EMCON has prepared this status <br /> report on the work conducted during the first quarter 1997 Work included groundwater monitoring, <br /> which consisted of measuring depth to groundwater, collecting a groundwater sample from the well for <br /> subjective and laboratory analyses, and evaluating the groundwater gradient and direction of <br /> groundwater flow beneath the site <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The site is located at the southeast corner of the intersection of Charter Way and Lincoln Street in <br /> Stockton, California (see Figure 1) The property is located in a commercial area and is currently <br /> being used as a transmission repair shop Based on information provided by the San Joaquin <br /> County Public Health Services (SJCPHS), two underground storage tanks (USTs) were present, <br /> and the site was historically used as a retail service station, with gasoline dispensing activities <br /> ceasing sometime in the 1950s It is unknown when one of the UST's and dispenser islands were <br /> removed However, based on information provided by SJCPHS, Thorpe Oil of Lodi, California, <br /> removed the remaining UST in February 1996 Residual hydrocarbons were detected beneath the <br /> UST However, total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHG) and diesel (TPHD), and <br /> benzene were below laboratory detection limits The approximate UST locations relative to site <br /> structures are shown on Figure 2 <br /> In the vicinity of the subject property is a former ARCO Service Station, a Chevron Service <br /> Station, a Texaco Service Station, a former Colombo bakery, and a former Dolly Madison facility, <br /> which all previously or currently have UST's Based on data collected from subsurface <br /> investigations performed at the former ARCO Service Station, Chevron Station, and Texaco <br /> Station (located at the corners of Charter Way and Lincoln Street), residual and dissolved <br /> hydrocarbons have been detected beneath these facilities, and a commingled plume exists beneath <br />• Charter Way and Lincoln Street <br /> SA(VY\PJ2\2613\26131000 1 BS-97\prz 1 <br />
