Smith Technology SITE SAFETY PLAN
FACILITY BACKGROUND
Presently the site is vacant land.
WORK PLAN
Task One:
Smith Technology will supervise the advancement of four soil borings to depths of 20 feet
below ground surface (bgs). The borings will be advanced by a State licensed (CSS drilling
company utilizing direct push technology. A field geologist will be present to log all soil
samples. Descriptions of soil types encountered and sample collection intervals will be
recorded on boring logs. Soil samples will be collected at three feet bgs and at five-foot
intervals. Each soil sample will be field screened with a Photoionization Detection (PID)
meter or similar instrument. The three foot samples from each of the four borings and one 16
to 1 composite sample of the remaining soil samples collected at every 5 feet in each boring,
will be placed in a cooler with ice and submitted for laboratory analysis. Following soil
sample collection, the borings will be backfilled with cement grout to the surface.
All drill cuttings, if any, will be stored on-site in a 5-gallon bucket with a lid pending
laboratory results. If laboratory results indicate that possible contaminants are below detection
limits in the soil samples from the borings, then Smith Technology personnel will spread the
cuttings on the site.
PAGE
