11 <br /> I Mr John Benedict Project No 880-039 IA <br /> July 25, 2002 <br /> Page 3 <br /> The groundwater samples were analyzed at Sparger Technology in Sacramento, California, for <br /> TPH-g using U S Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Modified Methods 8015, and for <br /> BTEX and MTBE using USEPA Method 8020 Copies of the chain-of-custody records and <br /> laboratory analysis reports are presented in Appendix C <br /> The results of laboratory analyses indicated that dissolved hydrocarbons were present in two of the <br /> four wells sampled TPH-g was detected in VW-2 and VW-3 at concentrations of 41,000, and <br /> 11,000 micrograms per liter (pg/L), respectively Benzene was reported in VW-2 and VW-3 at <br /> 5,300, and 1,900 pg/L, respectively MTBE was below laboratory reporting limits in groundwater <br /> samples collected dunng the second quarter 2002 sampling event Results of laboratory analyses <br /> are summarized in Table 1 <br /> The gradient was approximately 0 006 foot per foot (ft/ft) to the north-northwest (Figure 3), <br /> which is similar to the first quarter 2002 Groundwater flow and analytical data for the subject <br /> site are also summarized on Figures 3 and 4,respectively <br /> REMEDIATION SYSTEM STATUS: SECOND QUARTER 2002 <br /> The remediation system consists of four shallow zone and three deep zone soil vapor extraction <br /> (SVE) wells, from which soil vapors are extracted using a Stealth Bobcat Catalytic Oxidizer <br /> rated at 100 cubic feet per minute (cfm) Startup of the remediation system occurred on <br /> February 3, 2000, under the supervision of regulatory personnel Subsequently, Shaw E & 1 staff <br /> performs weekly system O&M, collects influent and effluent air samples monthly in accordance <br /> with air board permit requirements, and reports quarterly to the air board <br /> Sampling Results <br /> On April 8 & 22, May 6 & 20 and June 10, 2002, vapor samples were collected from treatment <br /> system influent Treatment system effluent samples were collected on April 8, May 6, and <br /> June 10, 2002 Samples were submitted to a state-certified laboratory for analysis of TPH-g and <br /> BTEX using USEPA Methods 8015 and 8020, respectively TPH-g was detected in the April 8, <br /> May 6, and June 10, 2002 influent samples at 470, 800 and 1,800 milligrams per cubic meter <br /> (mg/m3), respectively Benzene was not detected in any of the influent samples <br /> 115ACRFPIICOMMON\sacDP12002IPRJIPJ818801880039IA tae doc <br />
