f
_. Page 1 of 1
Vicki McCartney [EH]
From: Vicki McCartney [EH]
Sent: Monday,April 20, 2009 2:16 PM
To: 'Kirk Larson'
Cc: Nuel Henderson [EH]
Subject: Site at 620 Charter Way, Stockton,-California
Kirk:
In response to Revised 5-year Review Summary Report for Claim Number 4954;Site Address: 620 Charter Way,
Stockton, California, dated March 9, 2009, the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(EHD)
concurs with the recommendation by the Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund to direct the responsible party
to assess remedial technologies that can reduce the mass of fuel hydrocarbons in the deeper zones. In addition
to high concentrations of contaminants detected onsite beneath monitoring wells MW-16-50, MW-16-77, and MW-
16-90, groundwater collected from off-site wells MW-13-50, MW-13-77, and MW-14-77, installed in February
2008, indicts contaminants of concern are present east of the Shell site at depths of fifty and seven-seven feet
below surface grade(bsg).
Today, I drafted a letter directing a feasibility study/remedial action plan be submitted to the EHD by July 29,
2009, to mitigate petroleum hydrocarbon contamination in Zone A(approximately twenty to forty feet bsg), Zone B
(approximately forty-five to fifty feet bsg), Zone,C (approximately seventy-two to seventy-seven feet bsg), and at
approximately ninety feet bsg near MW-16-90. There are too many variables for me to predict when active
remediation will take place at this site.
Vicki McCartney,Senior REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
600 East Main Street
Stockton,California 95202
Phone: (209)468-9852
Fax: (209)468-3433
Email: vmccartnneya%sjcehd.com
4/20/2009
