BTEX, and polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) by EPA Method 8080, and
I halogenated volatile organics by EPA Method 8010. All of the test results were negative. Copies of
certified laboratory results are contained in Appendix A.
2.3 SntlIUeak I-Tlstory
No spills or leaks have been reported at this site. Precision tarok tests have been performed regularly
over the years and no lraks have been detected. Copies of the latest results(from June 1988) are
contained in Appendix B. The latest precision tests continue to indicate that the tanks are tight.
4 WILZoryrent
{ An inventory of existing water supply wells within a one
mile radius of the site will be
conducted if petroleum constituents are detected at higher than acceptable levels in soils underlying .
the site.
2.3 _Uier¢reund U1111tie
All underground utility locations will be verified with respective utility companies prior to drilling
l of soil borings at the site.
( 0 PROPOSEI>SO[L BORINGS
This section describes the proposed assessment, including the depth and distribution of exploratory
i
soil boAngs. The methods used to drill and sample the borings, the analytical procedures, the quality
assurance plan, and the site safely plan are contained in Appendix C.
i
3.1 Exploratory Bprings
Four soil borings wi:1 be advanced adjacent to the existing tank location(Figure 3). One soil boring ;
will be advanced adjacent to product-distribution lines. The other twc borings are located within
the area to be excavated to install new underground storage tanks.
Borings will be advanced using a 7.5- to 8-inch diameter hollow-stem auger. Samples will be
collected in a California-modified split-barrel sampler. Appendix C, Section 1.1 describes the
drilling and sampling techniques to be used.
I
1
I
f
