If a free-floating product layer was not detected by the interface probe, the tip of the
probe was subjectively analy7.ed for product sheen.
1.2 So h ertive Anal sis of Ground Water
Prior to purging of ground water monitoring wells,a water sample was collected from each monitoring well
for subjective analysis. The retrieving of the sample involved gently lowering a clean, disposable Teflon
bailer to approximately enc-half the bailer length past the air, liquid interface. The bailer was then retrieved,
and the sample contained within the bailer was examined for floating product levels and appearance of a
petroleum product sheen.
1.3 Monitoring Well Pur in and Sam lin
Monitoring wells were purged using a centrifugal pump capable of producing approximately 5 gallons per 3
minute. Ground water removed from the wells was stored in 55-gallon barrels at the site. The barrels were
labeled with c arresponding monit-ring well numbers and the date of purging. Purge water will be collected
from the storage barrels in a vacuum truck and transported to an appropriate facility for treatment and/or
disposal. Auer purging, ground water levels were allowed to stabilise. A water sample was then removed
from each of the wells by use of a Teflon bailer. Samples were collected in air-tight vials, appropriately
labeled, and stored on ice from the time of collection through the time of delivery to the laboratory. A
chain-of-custody form was completed to ensure sample integrity. Ground water samples were transported
_ to the laboratory and analyzed within the EPA-specified holding times for the requested analyses.
2.0 '4fONITORiNG WELL INSTALLATION
2.1 1AWRtIng Unde round Utilities
Prior to the installation of monitoring well MW-10,Delta researched the location of underground utilities
with the assistance of Underground Service Alert(USA). USA contacted the owners of the various utilities
in the vicinity of the site to have the utility owners mark the locations of their underground utilities. Drilling
was preceded by hand-augering to a depth of 5 feet to avoid contact with underground utilities.
QMRO01JI1M
