(Delta) has been authorized by Shell Oil Company (Shell) to
conduct an investigation of soil and ground water conditions at a Shell service station located at
620 West Charter Way, Stockton, California (Figures 1 and 2) The investigation is intended to
characterize the distribution of petroleum constituents in soil and ground water beneath and adjacent
to the site This report summarizes quarterly ground water sampling activities performed on
January 28, 1992
Quarterly ground water monitoring included measuring water levels in the 10 existing monitoring
wells, checking for the presence of free-phase hydrocarbons or hydrocarbon sheen, and collecting
ground water samples for chemical analysis All field activities were performed in accordance with
the procedures described in Enclosure A
Water Level Depth, Flow Direction, and Hydraulic Gradient
Ground water level measurements recorded on January 28, 1992, are compiled in Table 1, along with
previous ground water level measurements On January 28, 1992, depth to ground water in the
monitoring wells ranged from 3172 (MW-6) to 38 20 (MW-10) feet below the top of casings
Historic ground water elevations in monitoring wells MW-1, MW-5, MW-6, MW-8, and MW-9, are
graphically illustrated in Figure 3 The ground water level measurements recorded on
January 28, 1992, indicates the direction of ground water flow is toward the north with an easterly
component The horizontal gradient is approximately 0 02-feet per foot A water table contour map
was prepared, using the January 1992 data (Figure 4)
Delta Delivers Solutions
