(AGE), that additional funding has been
allocated by the State Water Resources Control Board Underground Storage Tank Cleanup
Fund to restate the dual-phase extraction (DPE) remediation system at your site. AGE
indicated that the DPE system will be operating by mid-April 2013.
In the Dual Phase Extraction Remediation Report— Third Quarter 2092, date 04 January 2013,
AGE recommended continuing active remediation by DPE, targeting monitoring wells MW-1 and
MW-3; and collecting groundwater samples from each of the `on-line' wells during the monthly
influent sampling event. AGE implied that groundwater samples collected from each well
should be analyzed for contaminants of concern independently and as one composited sample
"to gauge the influent stream concentration and to evaluate the most effective well
configuration."
The EHD approves the collection of grab groundwater samples from the `on-line' DPE
remediation wells and the analysis of the groundwater samples both independently and as one
composited sample if the groundwater samples are composited by a laboratory certified by the
State of California. The analytical results should be used to determine which wells to
incorporate into the DPE system. You do not need concurrence from this agency to add or
remove wells for efficient operation of the remediation system, but do provide notification of
such changes, along with the technical justification, to this office by short letter or email.
If you have any questions concerning this letter, please contact Vicki McCartney at (209) 468-
9852, or by email at vmccartney@sicehd.com.
Sincerely,
