In the Update, AGE requested an extension to the deadline for installation
of dual phase extraction (DPE) wells and implementation of DPE, installation of
off-site monitoring wells, and suspension of quarterly groundwater monitoring to
the fourth quarter 2009. These requests were made due to the difficulties with
reimbursements from the State Water Resources Control Board Cleanup Fund
(Fund).
An AGE representative informed the EHD that you have recently received a
reimbursement and that a quarterly groundwater monitoring event had been
conducted during the second quarter 2009. The EHD was further informed that
preapproval must be submitted to the Fund for prepayment for the DPE system
and that it is anticipated that several months will be required to receive the
preapproval. The EHD approves extending the implementation date for the DPE
system and well installations to the fourth quarter 2009.
To comply with the recent State Water Resources Control Board Resolution
2009-0042, your monitoring frequency is reduced to the following:
• Semi-annually sample MW-1 , MW-2, MW-3, MW-8A, MW-8D, MW-9A,
MW-9D; and
• Annually sample MW-4, MW-7, MW-813, MW-8C, MW-9B and MW-9C.
Monitoring reduction and Extension Approval Letter 0709
