Additional Monitoring Wells Installation Work Plan
K& S GAS & GROCERY
701 West Charter Way, Stockton, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
At the request of Mr. Khaldoon Othman of K & S Gas & Grocery, Advanced GeoEnvironmental,
Inc. (AGE) has prepared this work plan for installation of four single-level and four multi-level
ground water monitoring wells at 701 East Charter Way,Stockton,California(the site). The location
of the site is illustrated on Figure 1. A plan of the site is illustrated on Figure 2.
The proposed scope of work is an addition to the AGE-prepared Work Plan Addendum - October-
2000 and Work Plan Addendum - May 2001, both approved by the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department (EHD). A portion of the original scope of work as defined in
Work Plan Addendum - October 2000, to install up to seven single-level ground water monitoring
wells at the site, required modification as a result of subsequent site assessment investigations(AGE-
prepared CPT Testing Report - November 2001 and CPT Testing Report -February 2002) which
detected significant petroleum hydrocarbons at depths to 150 feet below surface grade (bsg). The
additional ground water monitoring wells are required to determine the lateral and vertical extent of
petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted ground water.
This work plan is prepared in accordance with California Regional Water Quality Control Board -
Central Valley Region (RWQCB) guidelines for the investigation of underground storage tanks
(UST) sites.
2.0. BACKGROUND
The site is located in a flat, commercial area of Stockton, California on the northeast corner of
Charter Way and Stanislaus Street(Figure 1). The site is presently utilized as a fueling facility and
convenience store. One 20,000-gallon fuel UST is presently located on the western portion of the
property.
2.1. REGIONAL GEOLOGIC SETTING
According to a Geologic Map of California, published in 1966 by the California Department of
Conservation Division of Mines and Geology, the site area is within the Great Valley Geomorphic
Province(GVGP)of California, a large, elongate, northwest trending structural trough. The GVGP
is subdivided into two major divisions designated the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys, which
have been filled to the present elevation with thick sequences of sediment ranging in age from
Jurassic to present day, creating a nearly flat lying alluvial plain extending from the Tehachapi
Mountains in the south to the Klamath Mountains in the north. The western and eastern boundaries
of this province are comprised of the California Coast Range and the Sierra Nevada, respectively.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
