i
' 03 May 2001
' AGE-NC Project No 97-0326
32 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF WATER SAMPLES
TPH-g was detected in samples collected from MW1, MW2 and MW3 at concentrations of 69,000
' micrograms per liter (µg/l), 41,000 µg/1 and 150,000 µg/1, respectively Benzene was detected in
samples from MW 1, MW2 and MW3 at concentrations of 2,600 µg/1, 7,500 µg/1 and 15,000 µg/1,
' respectively Toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes were detected at concentrations as high as 18,000
µg/1, 3,800 µg11 and 19,000 µg11, respectively(MW3)
MTBE was detected in ground water samples from MW-1 and MW-3,the highest concentration was
330 µg/l in MW-1 No other oxygenated compounds were detected in the samples analyzed
Analytical results of the ground water samples for the first quarter - 2001 monitoring event are
summarized on Table 2 The laboratory report (MAI Laboratory ID 63393-63395), QA/QC report
and chain-of-custody form are included in Appendix B
4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
• Based on the data collected from the site, AGE finds
• The inferred ground water flow direction at the site has been toward the south during the six
monitoring events conducted, although the historical ground water flow direction at the USA
site, the adjacent site to the east, and at the Morita Brothers site at the southeast corner of
East Charter Way and Grant Street, has been toward the east or northeast
• Very high concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in ground water samples
collected from all three monitoring wells on the site
• Neither the vertical nor horizontal extent of impacted ground water has been delineated at
the site
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the findings of flus investigation, AGE recommends
• Continuation of quarterly ound water monitoring, as required by the PHS-EHD
• Installation of additional CPT or soil bonngs to delineate the vertical and horizontal extent
• of impacted ground water
Advanced GeoEnwronmental,Inc
