04 October 2000
AGE-NC Project No 97-0326
32 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF WATER SAMPLES
TPH-g was detected in samples collected from MWl, MW2 and MW3 at concentrations of 65,000
micrograms per liter (µg/1), 44,000 µg11 and 160,000 gg/l, respectively Benzene was detected in
samples from MW 1, MW2 and MW3 at concentrations of 2,200 µg/1, 11,000 gg/l and 21,000 gg/l,
respectively Toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes were detected at concentrations as high as 25,000
gg/l, 4,800 µg/1 and 25,000 µg/I, respectively(MW3)
MTBE was detected In MW1 and MW3 at concentrations of 690 gg/l and 190 gg/l, respectively
TBA was also detected in MW 1 at a concentration of 720 gg/I DIPE, ETBE, and TAME were not
detected in any of the samples Analytical results of water samples are summarized on Table 2 The
I laboratory report (McCampbell Analytical Invoice Number 222067), chain-of-custody form and
QA/QC are included in Appendix B
4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
Based on the data collected from the site,AGE finds
9 The inferred ground water flow direction at the site has been toward the south during the five
monitoring events conducted, however, the historical ground water flow direction at the USA
site, adjacent to the east, and at the Morita Brothers site at the southeast corner of East
Charter Way and Grant Street, has been toward the east or northeast
• Very high concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons were detected In ground water samples
collected from all three monitoring wells installed at the site
I • Neither the vertical nor horizontal extent of impacted ground water has been delineated at
the site
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the findings of this environmental investigation, AGE recommends
0 Continuation of quarterly ground water monitoring, as required by the PHS-EHD
Installation of additional soil borings as needed to delineate the vertical and horizontal
extent of impacted ground water
• Installation of additional monitoring wells to complete the vertical and lateral assessment of
impacted ground water and to monitor impacted ground water as outlined in the Work Plan
Advanced GeoEnvzronmcntal,Inc
