I03 October 2000
AGE-NC Project No 97-0326
IPage 3 of 5
IClassification System (see Boring Logs, Appendix A)
4.0. FINDINGS
The soil description data was integrated with previous subsurface results to refine the subsurface
I geological model, the hydrocarbon impact to soil and ground water were addressed by laboratory
analysis of selected samples, as presented below
I41 STRATIGRAPHY
In boring B5 the soil stratigraphy can be categorized into three zones Between the depths of 20 to
25 feet the soil is composed of sandy silt From 35 to 65 feet the soil is a dark gray to gray brown
silty clay Below 65 feet the soil exhibits a different color (dark green-gray to dark green) and
appears to coarsen downwards, from silty clay to silt with fine sand lease to sandy silt In boring B6
the soil stratigraphy, from the starting depth of 45 feet to 55 feet is silt, fining to a silty clay interval
at 60 feet, and coarsening from silt with trace of sand at 65 feet to sandy silt at 70 feet Boring Iogs
' . are included in Appendix A
Organic vapor was detected in B5 soil samples at concentrations as high as 210 parts per million
(ppm), organic vapor was also detected in B6 soil samples at concentrations as high as 39 ppm(see
Appendix A)
42 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SOIL SAMPLES
TPH-g was detected in samples B5-45 and B5-50* at concentrations of 7 8 milligrams per kilogram
I (µg/kg)and 340 µglkg, respectively Ethylbenzene and xylenes were detected in samples B5-50* at
concentrations as high as 9 3 µg/kg Benzene and MTBE were not detected in any of the samples
analyzed Petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected in samples analyzed from boring B6 Analytical
results of soil samples are summarized on Table 1 The laboratory report (AAL Batch Nos
MJS13/1984 and CWH27086) and chain-of=custody form are included in Appendix B
43 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GRAB GROUND WATER SAMPLES
TPH-g was detected in samples B5-70/4-10-00 and B6-70/4-10-00 at concentrations of 550
micrograms per liter(}Lg/l)and 560 µg/1,respectively BTEX were detected in the B-5 and B-6 grab
ground water samples at concentrations as high as 22 µg/1 and 160 Lg/1 respectively MTBE was
Idetected in the B-6 grab ground water sample at 6 0 µg/1 Analytical results of water samples are
• summarized on Table 2
I
Advanced GeoEnrnranmental,Inc.
