1 <br />' 02 June 1999 <br /> • AGE-NC Project No 97-0326 <br /> Page 3 of 7 <br /> 3 2 LOGGING <br />' Soil was extruded from a second brass sleeve and screened for the resence of organic vapor using <br /> P <br /> an organic vapor meter (OVM) equipped with a photo-ionization detector (PID Thermo <br />' Environmental 580A, 10 0 eV, calibrated to isobutylene), and the readings were recorded on the <br /> boring log The soil was then visually describer] in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification <br />' System (see Appendix A - Boring Logs) <br />' 3 3 WELL AND BORING COMPLETION <br /> Borings MW1 through MW3 were completed as ground water monitoring wells using 20 feet of <br /> two-Inch diameter PVC casing with 0 020-inch slotted screen, installed from 55 feet to 35 feet bsg <br /> in boring MW1 and from 48 to 28 feet bsg in borings MW2 and MW3, with blank casing extended <br /> to the surface The filter pack(No 3 Lonestar sand) was installed from total depth to approximately <br />' two feet above the screened interval Each well was then surged using a stainless steel bailer to <br /> develop the well and set the sand pack Additional sand was then added to bring the level up to two <br />�. feet above the screened section A nominal two-foot bentonite pellet plug was then Installed above <br /> the filter pack and hydrated The wells were then grouted to near the surface with portland cement <br /> A water-tight, traffic-rated well box was then installed over each well <br /> 3 4 LABORATORY ANALYSES OF SOIL SAMPLES <br /> Selected soil samples were analyzed for <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA <br /> method 8015m/GCFID 5030, <br />' • Volatile aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes, BTEX) <br /> with methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8020, and <br />' The soil sample collected from near the saturated/vadose-zone interface was also analyzed for <br /> • Oxygenated compounds, di-Isopropyl ether (DIPS), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), <br />' MTBE, tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME) and tertiary butanol (TBA) in accordance with <br /> EPA Method 8260 Modified <br /> 1 <br /> Advanced GeoEnviranmental,Inc <br />
