I PRELIMINARY SITE ASSESSMENT REPORT <br /> K & S Gas & Grocery <br /> 701 East Charter Way, Stockton, California <br />' 10. INTRODUCTION AND SCOPE OF WORK <br /> In acco;dance with the request of Mr Khaldoon Otivnan of K & S Gas & Grocery, Advanced <br />' GeoEnvironmental, Inc (AGE)has prepared this report for activities performed at 701 East Charter <br /> Way, Stockton, California The scope of work included the advancement of four soil probe borings <br /> t near the current underground storage tank (UST) locations and the collection of soil samples This <br /> investigation xAas peiforined in preparation of UST upgrading by tank lining The site location is <br /> illustrated on Figur,_ 1 - Location Map Structures and soil probe boring locations are Illustrated on <br />' Figure 2 -Site Plan <br /> Field work was performed in accordance with Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board <br />' (CVRWQCB) and San Joaquin County Public Health Services - Environmental Health Division <br /> (PHS-EHD) guidelines for the investigation of UST sites <br />' 20 BACKGROUND <br /> lie The site is located in a flat, commercial area of Stockton, California on the northeast corner of <br /> Charter Way and Stanislaus Street It Is our understanding that two 12,000-gallon single-walled <br />' gasoline USTs dere installed at the site in 1972 The USTs will be upgraded by tank lining One <br /> 1,000-gallon double-walled UST is also located at the site <br />' 30 PROCEDURES <br />' 3 1 PROBING AND SAMPLING <br /> On 19 June 1997 four soil probe borings (probrngs) were advanced at the site using AGE's <br />' Geoprobe 5400 probing unit equipped with 1 25-Inch diameter probe rods and a 2 15-inch diameter <br /> soil sampling assembly Probings B 1 and B2 «ere advanced at an angle of approximately 20° from <br /> vertical Probings B1, B3 and B4 were advanced to a vertical depth of 20 feet, probing B2 was <br />' advanced to a vertical depth of 45 feet All probrngs were advanced near the 12,000-gallon gasoline <br /> USTs Probing locations are shown on Figure 2 Sample locations for angled probing B2, relative <br />' to the UST locations, are illustrated in Figure 3 <br /> Soil samples were collected at intervals of 5 vertical feet, beginning at 5 feet below surface grade <br />' (bsg), for the total depth of each probing All samples were collected using the Geoprobe soil <br /> sampling assembly loaded with four 1 125-inch by 6-inch brass sleeves Aftei collection, the ends <br /> . of the second brass sleeve were covered with Teflon sheets,capped and sealed with tape The sleeves <br />' Advanced CeoEnN ironmental,Inc <br /> r _ <br />
