Quarterly Report - Third Quarter 2003
I K& S GAS & GROCERY
701 East Charter Way, Stockton, California
' 1.0 INTRODUCTION
At the request of Mr Khaldoon Othman of K& S Gas & Grocery,Advanced GeoEnvironmental,
Inc (AGE) has prepared this quarterly report for the property located at 701 East Charter Way,
Stockton, California The scope of work included a quarterly ground water monitoring event and
I preparation of this report The site setting is illustrated in Figure 1 Structures and monitoring well
locations are illustrated in Figure 2 Site background information is summarized in Appendix A
Data from previous ground water monitoring events are summarized in the tables of this report
2.0. PROCEDURES
IField procedures were performed in accordance with Central Valley Regional Water QualityControl
Board(CVRWQCB)and San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(EHD)guidelines
for investigating underground storage tank(UST)sites and sampling ground watermonitoring wells
2 1 WELL MONITORING AND EVACUATION
On 14 July 2003, a Solinst water level meter was used to measure the depth to ground water in
' monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-3 relative to the tops of the well casings (well heads) The
ground water elevations and gradient were determined from these data and are shown in Table 1
After recording water level measurements,a Waterra Hydro lift Pump was used to evacuate the wells
of standing water A minimum of 3 casing-water volumes were removed from each well, 16 gallons
from MW-1 and 9 gallons each from MW-2 and MW-3 Ground water temperature, pH and
' conductivity were measured at regular purge-volume intervals during the evacuation of the wells
using an Oakton water analyzer Field sheets and data are included in Appendix B Evacuated water
was stored on-site in properly labeled, 55-gallon Department of Transportation (DOT)-approved
' drums
22 COLLECTION OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
The depth to ground water was measured in each well following evacuation to assure a minimum
' of 80%recharge prior to sampling Water samples were then collected using new disposable plastic
bailers Each water sample was transferred into laboratory-supplied 40-m1 volatile organic analysis
(VOA) vials containing 0 5 ml 18% hydrochloric acid as a sample preservative The sample vials
were then labeled with the monitoring well designation, date, time of sampling and the sampler's
initials The samples were transported in a chilled container under chain-of-custody to Cal Tech
Advanced GeoEnviranmental,Inc
