20 August 2002 • AGE-NC Project No 97-0326 Page 3 of 4 ' 32 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF WATER SAMPLES TPH-g was detected in samples collected from MW 1, MW2 and MW3 at concentrations of 50,000 micrograms per liter (µg/1), 48,000 µg/1 and 120,000 µg/1, respectively BTEX compounds were detected in all of the wells sampled Benzene was detected in samples from MW1, MW2 and MW3 at concentrations of 2,100 µg/1, 9,700 µg/1 and 15,000 µg11, respectively Toluene,ethylbenzene and xylenes were detected at concentrations as high as 18,000µg/1,4,600µg11 and 43,000 µg/l, respectively(MW3) MTBE was detected in the ground water sample from MW 1, at a concentration of 280 µg/1 by EPA Method 8260B No other oxygenated compounds were detected in the samples analyzed Analytical results of the ground water samples for the second quarter 2002 monitoring event are summarized on Table 2 The laboratory report(CTEL Project No CT214-0204047),QA/QC report and chain-of-custody form are included in Appendix B ' • 4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS ' Based on the data collected from the site, AGE finds • The inferred ground water flow direction at the site has been dominantly toward the south- southeast during the ten monitoring events conducted to date,although the historical ground water flow direction at the adjacent site to the east(USA), and at the Morita Brothers site at the southeast corner of East Charter Way and Grant Street, has been toward the east or northeast • High concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in ground water samples ' collected from all three monitoring wells on the site(see Figures 3 to 5) BTEX compounds and MTBE are at concentrations exceeding California's Maximum Contaminant Levels for these products in drinking water • Neither the vertical nor horizontal extent of impacted ground water has been delineated at the site 1 5.0.
