28 February 2005
. AGE-NC Project No 97-0326
4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
The following conclusions were drawn from the results of this investigation
• The ground water elevations on 22 December 2004 ranged from 23 26 feet(MW-2)to 24 01
feet below MSL, the flow direction of first-encountered ground water was inferred to be
' toward the south-southeast at gradients of between 0 003 ft/ft and 0 03 ft/ft
• TPH-g and BTEX compounds were detected in ground water samples collected from all
HUs, but the fuel additives MTBE and 1,2-DCA were detected only in HU1 DIPE was
detected only in HU2 Laterally, the highest concentrations of contaminants in HU 1 were
centered around the tank-pit and dispenser areas (Figures 4 and 5), vertically, TPH-g and
BTEX compounds exhibited decreasing concentrations with increasing depth
' 0 The vertical extent of ground water contamination may be influenced by downward, vertical
ground water flow between HU1 and HU2, HU2 and HU4, and HU4 and HU6
' 0 The lateral extent and vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted ground water have
not been defined
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
' Based on the findings of this investigation, AGE recommends
g
' Continuation of the quarterly ground water monitoring program, the next monitoring event
is scheduled for March 2005
' • installation of off-site monitoring wells, pending resolution of permitting and bond issues,
to date,AGE has installed three of the eight monitoring wells proposed in the AGE-prepared
Additional Monitoring Wells Work Plan, dated 26 July 2002
• Commence weekly removal of free petroleum product from well MW-1 in accordance with
Chapter 16, Section 2722 if the California Code of Regulations, utilizing disposable bailers
' If free petroleum product is not detected in two consecutive weekly events the frequency will
be decreased to bi-monthly, this program will be evaluated quarterly
• Preparation of a work plan for interim remediation of petroleum-impacted soil and ground
water
' Advanced GeoEnvironmental Inc
1
