Roger Liston Page 2
PHS/EHD recommends that contaminated groundwater beneath the Darpetro site be put under hydrostatic
control . There is no workplan for a groundwater hydrostatic control system, such as an extraction well, for
this site at this time. PHS/EHD recommends that the plume at this site be put under some type of hydrostatic
control to reduce potential contamination levels of neighboring sites.
At this time PHS/EHD recommends that you install the vapor extraction wells at the pre designated locations
under permit from this agency by August 30, 1995. A workplan for additional subsurface investigation of the
groundwater plume on APN 147-343-11 shall be submitted by August 30, 1995 . The next quarterly report
should discuss the newly installed vapor extraction system, the status of the subsurface investigation of the
upgradient portion of the plume and plans for hydrostatic control of the plume. The report should include
a fence diagram showing lithology, groundwater elevations and vertical contamination contours of the known
extent of the plume. A groundwater remediation system should be installed subsequent to definition of the
lateral extent of the groundwater plume.
For further information please contact Steven Sasson at (209) 46&3459.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
yirEnvnmental Health Division
Sass , Seio I Diane M.
