Soil EPA 8020 BTEX 5 ug/Kg
Soil EPA 8015M TPH 1 mg/Kg
Water EPA 8020 BTEX 0.3 ug/L
Water EPA 8015M TPH 50 ug/L 9d
Water 8260 Oxygenates 5 ug/L
Soil EPA 8015M TPH 1 mg/Kg
The Health and Safety Plan will remain the same as in the previous Work Plans .
The EHD has requested that we suggest a method of checking the contamination at the surface of
the water table, since several wells have submerged screen sections and receive water at present
about 10 feet below the water table. Wells BM- 1 , BM-2 and BW3 are screened from 35 to 50 feet
and the present water table is 33 feet below the surface. The water sampled in these wells is
representative of the surface water after purging . The regulator stated that perhaps we could not
see floating product in well screened under the water table. This is true , however, we have never
seen any floating product at this site, even when the site was sampled in 1989 when the water
table was 42 feet bgs or deeper. Therefore, this concern is not valid for this site .
The sampling of wells BM- 1 , BM-2 , BW3 and the new well BW13 should give us assurance that
the groundwater contamination is being measured and sampled realistically. At the same time we
would like to discontinue sampling wells BM-6, BM-7 , BM-8 and BM-9.
The new well BM- 13 will be drilled close to well BM-8. The water in this area has crossed the
source area and this is the first opportunity outside of traffic. A proposed well design is shown in
Figure 2 . The well will be drilled to 45 feet and the screen will be placed from 45 to 25 feet.
Opposite the screen will be placed in the annulus Number 3 sand . Above the sand will be a 3 foot
thick transitional seal of hydrated bentonite and above the seal the annulus will be filled with
hydrated cement.
After the well is completed the top of the casing will be surveyed and the well will be developed.
SCHEDULE
The proposed schedule will be followed after the approval of this work plan is received and the site
has been approved by the State UST Fund .
Contract drilling company 2 weeks
Drill and Sample 2 boring 2 Days
Drill and construct 1 well 1 Day
Write and submit report on activities 4 weeks
If there are any questions please contact me at (209) 527- 1247 .
