When the pump is stopped all the water in the pump system falls
back into the well. Therefore, the returning water is the same
water that had dust been removed from the well . We do not
believe this will cause any change in the level of the
contaminates in the well. The water sample is taken and removed
from the well with a decontaminated dry bailer.
You have suggested we take a blank every time we use the pump.
We do not believe the pump is contributing to any contamination
in the wells. It would make more sense to test the bailer after
each sample to assure the sample is not contaminated by the
bailer. We will await your dictum on this matter.
The letter states we have not notified you when we are doing the
sampling. You were present on July 18, 1997 for the sampling. I
also recall you told me over the phone you would not be able to
attend one of the sampling events. In the future, we will notify
you of all sampling at this site. On September 5, 1997 , I was not
in this state and no one in our organization remembers talking with
you on that date.
Yours truly,
7
John Cussen
• RG #6506 No.6506
CC: Roger Liston, Darpetro, Inc.
Mel Jacobo, SWRCB s'lgQ`
Pat Anderson, CVRWQCB OF CA1.E
